TAKAHASHI Mutsuko is:
Professor of Social Policy, Director of Graduate School of Social Welfare Studies, Kibi International University, Okayama Japan.
After graduated from the Osaka University of Foreign Studies (Department of Danish language and culture), she worked at the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 1986 to 1990. Shifting her career from diplomat to researcher, she received her Ph.D. from the University of Tampere, Finland in 1995. Currently her main research interests are risks and social justice, ethics in social policy concerning domestic violence and custody issues, and comparative studies of welfare state models. Her recent publications in English include "Risk and Public Policy in East Asia" (co-authors: Raymond K.H. Chan & Lillian Lih-rong Wang), Ashgate 2010, ‘The intimate risk as challenge to welfare state – precarious family and human relationships in Japanese risk society’ (Journal of Asian Public Policy, 2009, 2(3)), and ‘Challenges in Nordic childcare policies: with special reference to Finland’ (Journal of Comparative Economic Studies,2008, 4).
