Dr. Etsuo A. Susaki graduated from Kyushu University School of Medicine in 2002 and earned his Ph.D. in medicine from the same institution in 2007. His primary research interests are the functional states and regulatory mechanisms of multicellular systems. Specifically, he invented the CUBIC framework for cell-omics to study multicellular systems. Additionally, he is skilled in molecular biology, biochemistry, and genetics. He is currently applying his unique research background and techniques to multiple biomedical applications, such as 1) a 3D spatial context analysis of multicellular systems (e.g., brain, organoid), 2) 3D clinical histopathology, 3) an open-source lights-sheet system development for biomedical end users, 4) drug discovery using a new organoid screening technique, 5) early detection of aging/aging-related disease processes, and 6) multicellular synthetic biology. He has also initiated projects to use hydra species as an aging and multicellular synthetic biology model.
