I have been working at the University of Tokyo since 2012, where I teach classes on phonetics and language acquisition, along with English classes aiming at discussing various social issues.

My research interests are in experimental phonetics and psycholinguistics related to the processing of speech sounds, first and second language acquisition. My field of specialization is the perception and acquisition of speech sounds by second language learners.

Besides my life in academia, I am very much interested in social issues, and in bringing people together to discuss, think and find potential solutions to these issues. Issues that are particularly close to my heart at the moment are those related to immigration and inter-cultural differences.
