Dr. Asanobu KITAMOTO earned Ph.D. in Engineering from University of Tokyo in 1997. He then worked for National Center for Science Information Systems, which was later reorganized to National Institute of Informatics, where he now serves as associate professor. His research interests include image information processing, earth environmental informatics, and digital archives of cultural heritage. His work on e-Science and e-Culture also produced several popular websites, which has been attracting a large number of professional and general users to obtain academic and scientific data.
