After graduating from Keio Business School in 2001 with an MBA, Dr. Ashizawa engaged in several corporate transformation projects at the Industrial Revitalization Corporation of Japan and Advantage Partners Inc.

She is currently associate professor at Department of Economics and Business Administration, Yokohama City University. Her research intrests are;

1) The role of private equity funds in corporate transformation
2) The role of venture capital in the formation of startup ecosystem

She also focuses on practical entrepreneuship education and policy proposals for the formation of startup ecosystems.

She is also an outside director of three listed companies and serves on various committees of Japanese ministry-related institutions and City of Yokohama.
