Bridging the gap between OWL and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) languages is an indispensable condition to enable the Object-Oriented Modeling in Software Engineering by OWL. However it is very difficult in case of static OOP languages like Java and C#. We have developed SWCLOS, which is an OWL processor seamlessly built on top of Common Lisp Object System (CLOS), a dynamic OOP language. SWC...
Ontology has been used as a primitive of knowledge base construction, and now it is the backbone of the Semantic Web. It incorporates extensibility and distributed manageability that are main features of the Web. In this paper, we summarize the features of ontology description language OWL. Then we present a brief overview of its expressive power in a context of extending Web service technology.

Although retrieval results can be improved with ontologies, it usually takes many costs for users to construct domain ontologies. This paper discusses how to integrate search result refinement and domain ontologies refinement, presenting a methodology to construct domain ontologies incrementally with less costs, using a domain ontology construction tool called Japanese DODDLE. The case studies ...

We are constructing Rocket Launching Support System by means of Semantic Web Services. The task ontology is considered as the description of pattern in business flow modeling and operation task flow modeling, and OWL-S is captured as the description language of the specification in such flow modeling. From the viewpoint, agents should instantiate the specification of task ontologies described i...

An interface agent for process plant operation mediates between an operator and a process plant. In this paper, we describe the notion of an interface agent derived from the characteristics of plant operation task and the generic properties of agents, then introduce an idea of case-based realization for the agent's perception and memory. Sensation of anomaly in plant operation was built on Memo...
