Hiroki Takakura is a Professor of Social Anthropology, Tohoku University, Japan. He affiliates to both the Center for Northeast Asian Studies and the Graduate School of Environmental Studies. His main concern is human ecological adaptation and the indigenous knowledge in the Arctic, in particular, in Siberia. After the Great East Japan Earthquake, he started the disaster research and visual anthropology. He is the author of Arctic Pastoralist Sakha: Ethnography of Evolution and Microadaptation in Siberia (Melbourne: Trans Pacific Press, 2015), the coedited the book Global Warming and Human-Nature Dimension in Northern Eurasia (Springer, 2018); and the co-atuhored the book World Anthropologies in Practice (Bloomsbury, 2016), Crisis and Disaster in Japan and New Zealand (Palgrave Macmillan, 2019).
