Yinji Li is a marine social scientist with Ph.D. in Marine Science from the Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology, Japan. Her Bachelor’s degree is in Economics and Master's in Fisheries Science. She is currently an Associate Professor in the School of Marine Science and Technology at Tokai University, Japan. Dr. Li’s research interests and expertise lie in coastal governance, coastal fisheries governance and coastal community revitalization issues among the Northeast Asian countries such as Japan, Mainland China, Taiwan, and South Korea. During her research career, she has joined many major research projects and published a number of papers and articles in relevant fields.

Dr. Li is a member of the Human Dimensions Working Group as part of the Integrated Marine Biosphere Research (IMBeR), an international project that promotes marine research to contribute to sustainable, productive and healthy oceans at a time of global change and for the benefit of society. She is also an active member of Too Big to Ignore - Global Partnership for Small-Scale Fisheries Research Project, a global research network and knowledge mobilization partnership that focuses on addressing issues and concerns affecting viability and sustainability of small-scale fisheries at the Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada.
