Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cell lines are the most commonly used cell lines for the production of biologics when correct protein folding and posttranslational modifications are required. One of the problems of the CHO cells is their low productivity, which fails to meet the need for biologics at an affordable price.
Because of this, I`m researching how to increase productivity and production stability in CHO and recently developed Chinese hamster lung YN (CHL-YN) cell line. I am focusing on the influences of genomic stability and recently, of endogenous CHO and CHL-YN transcription mechanisms on recombinant gene transcription. The ultimate goal is to engineer cell lines and develop novel gene expression vectors, that will confer high and stable production of biologics.
