田中 弘之

製薬企業において創薬研究、臨床開発、マーケティング、メディカルアフェアーズに従事し、約20年にわたり医薬品のライフサイクル全体に関わる業務を経験。その後、10年間は、メディカルアフェアーズ領域に特化したコンサルティング事業を立ち上げ、製薬企業に対する戦略立案支援、人材育成、組織構築支援に従事してきた。

現在は宇都宮大学データサイエンスセンター特任教授として、医療・ヘルスケア領域におけるデータサイエンスの社会実装をテーマに研究・教育活動を行っている。

主な研究関心は、希少疾患を中心とした診断遅延の構造分析、患者および医療従事者のナラティブデータからのインサイト抽出、医療における意思決定・行動プロセスの解明である。近年は、これまで人手に依存していたインサイト抽出プロセスの再現性向上を目的とし、AIや自然言語処理技術を活用した分析手法の開発に取り組んでいる。

また、企業・自治体・医療機関との連携を通じて、研究成果を実社会へと実装することを重視しており、患者視点に基づく医療戦略の高度化および社会的価値創出（CSV／SROI）の実現に取り組んでいる。

I have over 30 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, spanning drug discovery, clinical development, marketing, and medical affairs, covering the entire lifecycle of pharmaceutical products. I later founded a consulting business specializing in medical affairs, where I have supported pharmaceutical companies in strategic planning, capability development, and organizational design.

Currently, I serve as a Specially Appointed Professor at Utsunomiya University, where I focus on research and education in the social implementation of data science in healthcare.

My primary research interests include the structural analysis of diagnostic delay in rare diseases, insight extraction from narrative data of patients and healthcare professionals, and the understanding of decision-making and behavioral processes in healthcare. Recently, I have been working on developing reproducible methods for insight generation by leveraging AI and natural language processing.

In addition, I actively collaborate with industry, government, and healthcare institutions to translate research outcomes into real-world impact, aiming to enhance patient-centered medical strategies and create social value through approaches such as Creating Shared Value (CSV) and Social Return on Investment (SROI).
