I have been working on mixed oligopoly from the viewpoint that markets do not work as they are supposed to. Historically speaking, governments introduced their in-house provision of the services that private firms can provide, facing the poor performance of market mechanism. Economists have an obligation to answer why we have to reverse the policy that majority of people once supported.
