Glycoprotein O (gO) is conserved in beta-herpesvirus subfamily. The function and maturation of gO during HHV-6A infection were unknown so far. Two forms of gO exist in HHV-6A infected cells, only the small one is incorporated into HHV-6 virions. By anlyzing the maturation process of gO, we found gO's maturation was accompanied with the deletion of its C-terminal, and that
