シュヴァルツ トーマス

Dr. Thomas Schwarz studied German Philology and History in Munich and Berlin and received his PhD from the University of Dortmund. He worked as a part-time lecturer at Free University (FU) and at Humboldt University, Berlin, and as a visiting lecturer for the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) in South Korea and in India. In 2011/12 he joined FU’s Peter Szondi Institute of Comparative Literature as a DAAD research fellow. Since 2013, he taught for 5 years at Tokyo's Rikkyo University, where he is still a member of the Centre for Asian Area Studies. After teaching as a Project Associate Professor at the University of Tokyo from 2018 to 2020, Thomas Schwarz was appointed as a professor at Nihon University's Department of German Language and Literature in April 2020. His research areas cover colonialism and exoticism in the Pacific, more recently with a focus on the Anthropocene.
