This paper presents the improvement method of cooperative education in order to advance practical and workbasedabilities of students, from the viewpoint of industrial engineers' needs and early adoption to today's ability towork. All industrial engineers engaged in this project had graduated our college in the past several decades, and sincethen each engineer worked and gained rich experiences at large electric manufacturing laboratory, electric powersupplier, construction firm and software development companies. Through the investigation of workplace trainingand the interview with teaching staffs at the college, the industrial engineers carried out the improvements byintroducing standpoints of the engineers into experimental and practical training. Major efforts in each engineeringdepartment were focused into the product planning and work-flow procedure in mechanical, the high voltagemeasurement in electric, the quality programming in control and the measuring variation in construction. Along withthis plan, the training has been not only successfully accomplished, but surely improved practical skills; because ofthe answers of a questionnaire more than 70% students expressed its availability to encourage their careers.
