We have shown that OCP is a biodegradable and highly osteoconductive material and that its capacity is improved if partially hydrolyzed in water. OCP can be decomposed by heating in the air due to water molecule dehydration. In this study, we examined the bone regeneration of partially dehydrated OCP if implanted onto calvarial bone of rats in a granule form. There is a report that the dehydration produces similar portion in the structure produced by the partial hydrolysis. It was apparent that the partial dehydration of OCP influences the bone regeneration enhanced by OCP.
