In the conduct of planar laser induced fluorescence (PLIF) measurements of high-Sc-number scalar transfer, the following errors are included in all captured images. First, local excitation intensity of fluorescence is affected by the surrounding concentration field. Secondly, fluorescence quantum yield has time dependence. Thirdly, laser intensity has temporospatial distribution. In this paper, we propose a nonmetric image correction method to improve the accuracy in PLIF measurement, in which above-mentioned problems were completely removed. The method was applied to the PLIF measurement of high-Sc-number scalar transfer in grid-generated turbulence. The results show that turbulence statistics on concentration are properly estimated by using the present method.
