Tribological Feature of Square Cup Drawing Test

The tribological feature of the square cup drawing test is analyzed by using FEM simulation. The factors that are considered to affect the galling behavior, such as contact pressure, sliding distance and temperature, are investigated. No striking feature can be found at the galling position on the die surface. The galling generating position on the drawn cup has a history with the maximum temperature. It is concluded that the maximum temperature on the drawn cup is the controlling factor of galling.
