Originally from Upstate New York, I received a BA in Anthropology from Vassar College, and spent a few years teaching EFL in Taiwan and New Mexico before moving to Boston in 2007, where I received an MA in Applied Linguistics from the University of Massachusetts. I moved to Japan in 2011 to teach at KUIS. I have taught all ages from kindergarten to working adults from various cultural backgrounds for over ten years, but have spent most of that time working with Japanese professionals and undergraduates. My research interests include Queer Pedagogy; gender, language and identity in EFL contexts; critical thinking, and learner autonomy. I am currently a senior lecturer in the ELI.
