Profile

Marine diatom is an extremely important primary producing organism which is responsible for up to 20% the annual global carbon fixation. Our research aim is to elucidate molecular mechanisms of fundamental functions related to diatom primary productivity in oceans and their response to environmental change. From such activities, we aim to extract basic molecular information critical for logical and quantitative estimate of future global environment. We also intend to apply the functions of special environment microorganisms to bio-nano industrial technology.
