The design of LSI (Large Scale Integration) chips in the semiconductor industry has entered a phase of major change. As the spacing between transistors becomes narrower, it is predicted to hit a physical limit. One major concern of designers is how to find a better structure for a LSI chip such as a SoC (System-on-a-Chip) or SiP (System-in-a-Package). Hence, a new method of supporting design decisions in the initial design stage is strongly desired. To help improve LSI chip design, we built an MDM model to increase understanding of the initial design and engineering processes.
