ラウホフ ゲオルク

Georg Lauhoff, Ph.D.  is an Engineer at IBM Almaden and carries out R&D in materials science and its application in data storage devices. He co-authored 38 refereed journal articles and over 30 conference presentations, primarily in the field of materials science, data storage materials and magnetic thin films and co-authored a text book in the field of Data Science and Risk Management.

He studied physics at Aachen (Diplom) and Cambridge University (Master and Ph.D.) specializing in the field of materials science and magnetic thin films and sensors.

He also holds an MBA from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln specializing in the area of Data Science and Supply Chain Management.

He was awarded scholarships and research grants in the U.K. and Japan. He was the Clerk Maxwell Scholar from 1995- 98 and is a Fellow of the Cambridge Philosophical Society.

After graduating from his Ph.D. he moved to Japan and held a faculty position in Materials Science and Engineering at the Toyota Technological Institute. Returning to Cambridge University he carried out research in the sequencing of DNA using magnetic sensors at Cambridge University. Since 2005 he works in the recording industry in the Bay area.
