BIBRIOGRAPHY:
Dr. Honami Yoshida completed her residency and fellowship program at the prestigious, tertiary Japanese medical institution, St. Luke’s International Hospital in 1998. She was a postgraduate student in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN) at Nagoya University since April 2001. Her outstanding and high-quality works can be found in her CV.

After completion of her PhD in 2004, she gained significant experiences at OB/GYN and general physician clinics throughout Germany and England for a year and a half. During this period, her eyes were opened to the importance of primary care in women's health settings. This prompted her to learn more about the available evidence pertaining to women's health and methodologies to conduct studies. Such experiences have provided her a broad, international perspective to complement her rich clinical career and basic research expertise in biochemistry.

During her first year at Harvard, she found an interesting discrepancy in the results between her study and other studies conducted in western countries. She remained in the school to conduct in-depth studies regarding these between-nation differences. She has recently arranged international projects between the United States and Japan. She is also in the process of publishing three articles in clinical epidemiology comparing Japan and Western countries, which have been accepted by leading journals. .

After obtaining an MPH in Quantitative Methods at Harvard, she has been an Abe Research Fellow 2010 awardee working on gender disparity and reproductive health epidemiology in the (Department of Society, Human Development and Health) Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences. This was her first involvement with policy research. Utilizing the existing differences between the United States and Japan, she has been investigating the effects of traditional gender role under the consideration of differences in social characteristics such as culture, immigration status and types of social systems. She believes this will help solve the low birthrate problem in industrialized countries including the United States and Japan.

The Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami occurred in 2011/3/11 and this disaster revealed health care issues that Japan already had. Dr. Yoshida recognized is the lack of attention for maternal health care in the highly aged society and devoted maternal and child health care in the catastrophic area for more than a half year. She was the only one specialist in the field to ease the feelings and symptoms of expecting mothers and babies. After that she developed community preparedness project with the local government in Tokyo.

Currently, she is devoted to health care policy research as a senior researcher at the National Institute of Public Health in Japan. She is leading research in maternal and child health through translating scientific knowledge into the real world. Also, she is a premier researcher in disaster management of perinatal care, which has been never established.
She is also the mother of four children, a beloved friend, a cheerful research fellow and colleague.

She has recently published the Japanese book “Making our lack of time enable us to do all we desire (Sunmark Publishing)” targeting all audiences eager to achieve their goals instead of being overwhelmed by their busy schedules. She is an opinion maker in the area of time-management through her actions and practices.
