© 2018 Taylor & Francis. It is often said that neuroethics as a discipline did not begin until 2000, although there are clear roots for the discipline much earlier (Illes and Bird, 2006). Ethical concerns about interventions into the brain are discernible in discussions on mental health, psychopharmacology, psychosurgery, and lobotomy. While current efforts at the forefront of neuroscience and neurology have focused this field, interest in neuroethical questions are diffuse and diverse.
