My research interests focus on Byzantium and the Crusader period, though on a global scale. My doctoral thesis and monograph in progress focus on the era of the Byzantine Emperor John II Komnenos (1087-1143) and his contemporaries, such as Ahmad Sanjar of Seljuk Persia. Within this period, I delve into economic, ecclesiastical, administrative, cultural as well as political history.
