Structure and thermal evolution of submicrocrystalline Sr-M (M=Na,K) zirconates obtained from water solution

© 2002 IEEE. Nanosized zirconates are interesting for the preparation of dense electrical ceramics as well as for protonic conductors. The techniques allowing to decrease particle size as compared to solid state reaction are: coprecipitation, sol-gel and hydrothermal methods. In the presented work submicrocrystalline zirconate powders were obtained by boiling of the suspension of strontium and zirconium hydroxides in MOH solution (M=Na,K). It was shown by EDX that the samples contain some amount of the M-cation (∼30 at% for Na and ∼20% for K).
