My main interest is to consider rule design in light of human frailty from the perspective of legal history and legal philosophy and apply it to various issues in civil law. Although human reason has historically been highly regarded, there are limits to human cognitive abilities, and consideration of these limits has been an important issue in philosophy and religion. There are also legal scholars, like Hobbes and Christian Thomasius, who valued human ability relatively low and tried to take it into account in rule design. I'm very interested in the question of how the limitations of human capabilities might affect the formulation and application of the rule.
