本研究では,円周状に配置した微小電極アレイ上に,神経細胞の軸索伸長方向を制御する機能を持つマイクロチャンバを設置したデバイスを作製した.このデバイスは,複数の細胞培養区画からなり,側壁の形状の非対称性により右回りの軸索伸長の割合を増大させる.電気計測の結果,神経細胞のバースト発火が右回りに伝播する様子が観測された.本手法による培養神経回路の構造制御は,神経システムの情報表現の解明に貢献可能である.
