Akihito Konishi was born in Hyogo, Japan, in 1985. He graduated from Osaka University in 2008 under the supervision of Professor Takashi Kubo. He received his Ph.D. from Osaka University in 2013 under the supervision of Professor Takashi Kubo. He spent three months with Professor Rik R. Tykwinski at Erlangen in Germany as a visiting researcher in 2010. After obtaining a Ph. D. degree, he worked as a high school teacher in Hyogo prefecture. Then, he returned to the academic field and joined Professor Makoto Yasuda's group at the Graduate School of Engineering, Osaka University, as an Assistant Professor in 2015.
