While hearing loss can be improved by surgery using a microscope, sensorineural hearing loss cannot be cured by surgery. However, nowadays, it is possible to improve the hearing of those with congenital severe sensorineural hearing loss by cochlear implantation, and it is now possible to acquire speech and language skills. However, early detection of hearing loss and early hearing compensation are important for smooth acquisition of spoken language, and appropriate medical care is necessary thereafter. In other words, it is necessary to put into practice a system of medical care, health care, and education. We would also like to transmit from this university our efforts toward a society where we can live together.
