Fabrication of ICG Dye-containing Particles by Growth of Polymer/Salt Aggregates and Measurement of Photoacoustic Signals

We fabricated salt crosslinked polymer particles as contrast agents for photoacoustic imaging using poly(allylamine hydrochloride) (PAR), a phosphate salt (NaH2PO4 or Na2HPO4), and an organic dye of indocyanine green (ICG). The surfaces of the polymer particles were coated with silica nanoparticles, resulting in improvement of their dispersion stability in a physiological saline solution. The suspensions of all prepared particles gave sufficiently large photoacoustic signals.
