ジャガイモの品種改良を行っています。2010年以降ジャガイモの病害虫抵抗性品種の育成に取り組んでいます。ジャガイモシストセンチュウやそうか病などはジャガイモの生産に大きな打撃を与える重要な病害虫です。これらの病害虫に強く、生産者、加工業者、消費者の皆さんに喜んでもらえる新しい品種を作っていけるように研究をしています。
