カイコとバキュロウイルスを使って、「ウイルスがどのようにして宿主の行動を操っているか」を遺伝子レベルで解明しています。また、カイコの特徴を生かして、小分子RNAの１つであるpiRNAの謎を解き明かそうとしています。昆虫を用いたバイオテクノロジーの産業応用についても興味があります。
