松村 宣顕

Noriaki Matsumura, Ph.D. (Informatics) and M.A. (Political Science), is an Associate Professor at the Center for Information and Communication Technology, Nagasaki University, Japan.

Research interests: Data-driven analysis and knowledge modeling of sociotechnical systems, including information security management, cyber defense, organizational practices, and well-being indicators.

His research focuses on modeling and analyzing complex sociotechnical systems through data-driven, network-based, and knowledge-driven approaches. He develops methods to represent, analyze, and visualize relationships among organizational practices, cybersecurity knowledge, risk management, and social indicators, making complex systems more interpretable and actionable.

A central theme of his work is bridging the gap between theoretical models and real-world decision-making. Through semantic modeling, knowledge representation, network analysis, and visualization, he seeks to support evidence-based decision-making, consensus-building, and uncertainty reduction in sociotechnical systems where human and technological factors interact.

His recent research includes semantic analysis of cybersecurity knowledge, information security maturity assessment, knowledge graph construction, and explainable decision support using natural language processing and network science. He is particularly interested in applying these approaches to cybersecurity frameworks, organizational resilience, and AI-assisted decision support.

In addition to cyber defense, he explores well-being and social indicators, including Gross National Happiness (GNH), investigating how different cultural, social, and environmental contexts shape the structure of well-being.

This perspective is rooted in his pre-academic career as a Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteer (JOCV) in Bhutan from 2008 to 2010. Experiencing the practical constraints of the field shaped his conviction that theoretical correctness alone is insufficient, and it continues to motivate his research on practical and socially grounded systems.

He is a member of the Institute of Electronics, Information, and Communication Engineers (IEICE), Information Processing Society of Japan (IPSJ), and Japan Social Data Science Society (JSDSS).
