GONZALES CHRYZEL ANGELICA BABAAN

Born and raised in the Philippines, Chryzel pursued her doctorate degree in Japan in 2015. She now holds a doctoral degree in Medical Science and she completed the Radiation Disaster Medicine Course of the Phoenix Leader Education Program (Hiroshima Initiative) for Renaissance from Radiation Disaster at Hiroshima University in 2019. Her MS degree in Medical Physics (2014) and BS in Applied Physics (2011) were both from the University of Santo Tomas in Manila. She was lecturer at Colegio de San Juan de Letran-Manila and Health Physicist (Radiation Protection) at the Center for Device Regulation, Radiation Health, and Research (CDRRHR) of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Philippines. Her academic research interests include radiation measurement, radiation protection, and radiation disaster medicine. She is particularly interested in retrospective/emergency dosimetry using electron spin resonance/electron paramagnetic resonance (ESR/EPR) technique in human fingernails. Recently, her work is focused on establishing a standard protocol for the preparation and dose assessment of fingernails in response to radiological incidents and nuclear mass-casualty events.
