Yasuaki Tokudome received a Doctor of Science degree from Kyoto University in 2010. He was a Research Fellow of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (2009-2011). After receiving his degree, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute for Chemical Research, Kyoto University. He was an assistant professor at the Graduate School of Engineering, Osaka Prefecture University (OPU) from 2011 to 2015. Since 2015, he has been working as an associate professor at OPU and Osaka Metropolitan University (OMU). He has focused on the synthesis and applications of nano/macro materials for environmental and biomedical applications. In particular, his research interests include kinetic control in the liquid phase to achieve metastable phases, structures, and compositions for specific applications such as adsorption, separation, catalysis, bio-imaging, electrochemical sensing, and energy conversion. He is also interested in developing novel reaction schemes, especially in environmentally friendly aqueous systems, for materials including organic-inorganic hybrids, nanoparticles, artificial clay minerals, bio-composites, and macro/meso porous materials. A better understanding of the interactions among reactants (ions, molecules, complexes, and colloidal particles) is key to tackling scientific challenges.
