Profile

Dr. Rika Nakagawa has worked for Toyo University since 2009, after a six-year career as a researcher at the Institute of Development Economies, a government affiliated research institution. She also teaches at the Graduate School of Economics, Toyo University. She earned her M.A. and Ph.D. in International Development from Nagoya University. She has conducted research on the role of the financial sector for economic development in Southeast Asia, mainly Malaysia. She has published extensively and given presentations at various conferences, both in Japan and internationally. Her current research interest is the role of the financial sector in private sector development, specifically in small and medium-sized enterprises, in Malaysia.
