Guang Li is a faculty member at the Laboratory of Media Dynamics (LMD) and an Assistant Professor at the Education and Research Center for Mathematical and Data Science (MDS), Hokkaido University. He earned a dual degree from Dalian University of Technology, China, in 2019, with a B.S. in Software Engineering and a B.A. in Japanese, and received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Information Science from Hokkaido University, Japan, in 2022 and 2023, supervised by Prof. Miki Haseyama and Prof. Takahiro Ogawa.

His work has been featured in international outlets including Scientific American, Nikkei, NHK, Synced, and AI Era. For contributions to Dataset Distillation, he received the 2024 IEEE Sapporo YP Best Researcher Award. He co-organized the first CVPR Workshop on Dataset Distillation and the first Dataset Distillation Challenge at ECCV. He has served as an Area Chair for major conferences such as ACM MM, MICCAI, and ICASSP, and as a Program Committee Member for top-tier venues including NeurIPS, ICLR, ICML, CVPR, ICCV, and ECCV. He also reviews for leading journals such as TPAMI, IJCV, TIP, TMM, and TMI.
