Biography

Dr Hiroyuki Ueda is an Alfred Deakin Postdoctoral Research Fellow who is energetically working on the development of advanced electrodes and electrolytes for battery applications, especially focusing on the realization of practical solid-state batteries using plastic crystals as promising solid electrolytes. Dr Ueda studied electrochemistry of redox-active species at ionic liquid | gold single crystal interfaces under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Soichiro Yoshimoto and received his PhD degree (Doctor of Engineering) in 2016 from Kumamoto University (Kumamoto, Japan). After that, he worked as a battery development engineer in the industry for approximately 4 years. Since he joined the Institute for Frontier Materials (IFM) at Deakin University in 2020, he has been leading the research activities of various battery projects. He is a key researcher in the Battery Research and Innovation Hub, where he is working closely with Prof. Patrick Howlett, Prof. Maria Forsyth, and our industry partners to develop new battery technologies.

Dr Ueda has authored 21 publications in international chemistry journals and books (including 17 first-author and 6 corresponding-author publications; 2 review papers; and 2 book chapters), 2 patent families, 1 dataset, and 2 journal cover features (with 1 cover profile).
