In this paper, we outline the challenges of clinical psychologists in working with organizations. Psychodynamically trained psychologists are well prepared for the challenge. However this work requires a change from a clinical to organizational mindset, and use of conceptual tools such as BART (boundary, authority, role, task), in addition to psychoanalytic concepts. The psychologist is also required to work in different roles, as clinician, executive coach, and organizational consultant. This work is consistent with the perspective of systems psychodynamics. We hope to raise interest of this thinking so that it can be lead to a meaningful presence in Japan.
