Iron is essential for the maintenance of life in all organisms!
For the detailed understanding how organisms take up and utilise iron in the environment and food, and to contribute to the development of safe and effective treatments for abnormal iron metabolism, my research projects are being conducted on the structure and function relationships of the various proteins responsible for the acquisition, sensing and utilisation of iron in the body at atomic, molecular and cellular levels.
