Profile

Dr. Joho Yamamoto is Lecturer at Bukkyo University in Kyoto.
His main fields of interest are modern Korean history, modern history of cultural exchanges in the East Asia and Japanese buddhism in modern Korea(especially ex-colonial era). He has written and edited books about Korean wave, East Asian history and nationalism.
He is currently the Kansai(Japan) regional president for World Association of Hallyu Studies (WAHS) and Joint Researcher at the International Research Center for Japanese Studies(NICHIBUNKEN, 国際日本文化研究センター).

1920年代朝鮮における監獄教誨では勤労が強調された。そしてこれは、真宗の「報恩」思想に依拠するものであった。そこでまず親鸞以降の「報恩」思想を真宗教学史的に考察してその起源を探る。さらにマックス=ヴェーバーの宗教社会学的視角からこの「報恩」思想に依拠した勤労の精神を分析するため、西欧のプロテスタンティズムの職業倫理と比較する。本稿はこのような方法によって、朝鮮における監獄教誨の性格にアプローチしようとするものである。
