Mathematics has always been my best subject in school. However, I have chosen to study Applied Linguistics at graduate school because it is a fascinating and stimulating field for me. As a child from an international family myself, I realized that the multicultural and multilingual dimension in my life was very important because it helped me become interested in bilingualism and second language acquisition.

I consider myself a researcher in the field of Applied Linguistics who aims to identify and solve problems related to languages in the real world. Over the years, my primary research interest has been Bilingualism - how people acquire and handle two or more languages. Among the many research interests related to bilingualism, "biliteracy development” has always been at the heart of my research.
