TOPPERS(Toyohashi/Takada OPen Platform for Embedded Real-time Systems) Project is based on the Operating System such as ITRON, ISO OSEK or other domain specific specifications.

ISO/IEC 15504 and ISO/IEC 33001 series

On Process assessment and Process Improvement, there are ISO/IEC 15504 information technology - process assessment series were published from 2003 and so on.
ISO/IEC TR 15504 series were published at 1998.
After trials of TR(technical report) there were few reports about the trials.
Some good experiences about training, assessment and improvement on IPA, JISA, and JSA(Japan Standard association)

Now ISO/IEC 33001 series will be published as new standards about process assessment and improevment.

There are some technical issues.

1 Alternative practices and tailoring somethings.
There are no mechanisms on alternative practices and tailoring process, practice and other assessment indicators.

2 Mapping mechanisms and 

3 Skills and Training assessors
There may be some skill definitions, but  for procurement and self improvement assessor should be different approach/method and or skills are needed.

1) Software Engineering
including programming language, Operating systems, Network protocols and other domain specific area such as database, timing, or others.
2) Management engineering
including Operations Research, Accounting, Industrial Engineering and others.
3) Social research
including Participant observation, Content analysis(not only document review), Questionnaire( including interview) and others.
