小学3年生の時に渡英。London School of Economic and Social Sciencesで国際関係論を学ぶも、感染症が地域の安全保障に与える影響に興味を持ち、London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicineで感染症対策で修士課程を修了、同大学で公衆衛生政策学で博士号を取得。LSHTM、ロンドンオープン大学にて研究助手、エイズ予防財団にてリサーチレジデント、東京大学院にて技術補佐員、公益財団法人結核予防会結核研究所にて研究員経て、現職。
