The nonlinear interaction between glasses and ultrashort pulse laser called multiphoton effect were studied. The change of glass structures caused by this effect guides the internal modification on nano-scale inside glasses, such as densification, valence reduction of rare-earth ions, single crystal precipitation and so on. In summary, the nonlinear effect of glasses for materials photonic is introduced from the view point of device application.
