日本全国の18歳から79歳の800人に対象にweb調査で、作品舞台を旅する「聖地巡礼」行動における作品世界への没入感を検討した.質問項目としては、物語理解における没頭尺度,移入尺度を旅行行動に対応するように改良し、あわせて、懐かしさ傾向、旅行行動などを測定した.その結果、アニメの作品舞台の旅行者は、小説舞台の旅行者に比べて,場面既知感が高いこと,場面既知感と作品世界への没入は相関が高いことが明らかになった。
