Profile

I got Ph.D. in Engineering from the University of Tokyo.
I studied information visualization with interactivity for the genome science field. I belongs to Hirose Lab which focuses on virtual reality technology and human interface technology. I collaborated with medical doctors and genome science researchers to solve huge amount of human genome data, especially, gene expression data and copy number data.

After that, I became assistant professor of the University of Tokyo. I have been studying information visualization for lifelog and genome data. I also collaborate with an artist.

In October 2009, I produced the public art event "Digital Public Art in Haneda Airport 'AirHarbor' " at the Haneda Airport which is the biggest airport in Japan. We have developed and made 19 artworks and set them among terminals of Haneda Airport. The artist, Yasuhiro Suzuki came up with ideas of artworks and I made them happen as a technical producer. This exhibition was summarized as a book
"Digital Public Art in Haneda Airport 'AirHarbor'" from Bijutsu shuppansha in both Japanese and English. http://bit.ly/avD60O

After my career in the university, I founded our company named Xcoo, Inc. ( https://xcoo.jp https://xcoo.co.jp ) in 2011. I was also a visiting researcher at Graduate School of Information Science and Technology, the University of Tokyo until March, 2017. Xcoo, Inc. is good at developing interactive systems and information visualization. One of their services was SKYTREE VIEW soramado which provides a real time panorama view from the TOKYO SKYTREE that is the tallest tower in Japan.

Xcoo began to start a cloud service of genome data analysis and data visualization for researchers, named "Chrovis" ( https://chrov.is ). It supports research projects using NGS (Next Generation Sequencing). It provides 1) simple data management, 2) automatical and high speed data analysis, 3) visualization with an intuitive analysis. Then Chrovis moved to a total solution software for precision medicine, especially oncology. Xcoo, Inc. supports data analysis of cancer precision medicine project of the University of Tokyo Hospital.

My field of expertise: Information Visualization, Interactive Visualization, Virtual Reality, Human Interface, Data Analysis, Lifelog, Media Arts, Bioinformatics, Knowledge Database, and Genomic Data Browsing.
