矢永 勝彦

Katsuhiko YANAGA, MD, PhD, FACS, is a Professor of Surgery at the Graduate School, International University of Health & Welfare (Fukuoka Campus), and Professor Emeritus of The Jikei University School of Medicine, Tokyo.  He has a medical license in Japan as well as in the United States, and underwent surgical training in both countries. Prof. Yanaga is board-certified in General Surgery, Gastroenterological Surgery, Gastroenterology, Hepatology, Biliary diseases, Pancreatic Diseases and Organ Transplantation, and is a Certified Instructor in Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic (HBP) Surgery in Japan.

Internationally, Prof. Yanaga is a member of the Academy of Master Surgeons Educators, an Immediate Past Executive Member of the International Relations Committee (IRC), Immediate Past Governor-at-large as well as the President of the Japan Chapter of the American College of Surgeons, Immediate Past Chair of the International Relations Committee of the Society of Surgery of the Alimentary Tract (SSAT) as well as the Special Interest Group on Hepatic Resection and Transplantation of the International Liver Cancer Association (ILCA) and an Honorary Member of the Asian Society of Surgery.  Domestically, he is the Immediate Past President of the Japanese College of Surgeons, an Honorary President of the Japanese Society of Gastroenterological Surgery and an Auditor of the Japanese Society for Clinical Surgery, Japanese Society for Endoscopic and Robotic Pancreatic Surgery and Japanese Society for Treatment of Obesity.  He is an Honorary Member of the Japanese Society of Gastroenterological Surgery and the Japanese Society of Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery, and is a Distinguished Member of the Japanese Society of Gastroenterology and Japan Society of Clinical Oncology and is a Special Member of the Japan Surgical Society, Japanese Liver Transplantation Society, Japan Esophageal Society, Japanese Society for Abdominal Emergency Medicine,  Japanese Society for Surgical Metabolism and Nutrition, Japanese Society for Transplantation, Japanese Society for Vascular Surgery, Japanese Society for Advancement of Surgical Techniques andTokyo Surgical Society.

  Prof. Yanaga serves as a councilor of the Japanese Society of Endoscopic Surgery, Japan Society for Surgical Infection, Japanese Gastroenterological Association, Japanese Gastric Cancer Association and Japan Society of Adult Diseases

Prof. Yanaga is also an expert in medical insurance policy, and serves as the Vice Chair of the Committee on Surgical Procedures of The Japanese Federation of Surgical Societies on Insurance reimbursement (Gaihoren) and the Chair of National Insurance Policy Reassessment of HBP Surgery of the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, as well as a member (representing general surgery) of the Committe on Insurance Affairs of the Japan Medical Association.
