In 1978, I joined Seikagaku Corp. in Tokyo. While working for the company, my colleagues and I pioneered an advanced chromogenic assay platform for bacterial endotoxin (LPS). We paved the way for its standardized testing addressed in the International Pharmacopoeia. Furthermore, our team set out to develop innovative diagnostic platforms for detecting endotoxemia from septic patients and invasive fungal diseases (IFDs) based on horseshoe crab (LAL) coagulation systems. Then, we made every effort to transfer pivotal LAL technologies to a subsidiary company in Massachusetts, USA. I was also committed to helping with obtaining FDA approval to launch a new in-vitro diagnostic test for IFDs based on a clinical trial carried out in the US. I have remarkably contributed to developing and improving LAL technologies to get the related products onto the marketplace with many scientific papers and patents based on multiple collaborative research projects.

In addition, I have been the owner/head of the LPS Consulting Office since February 2013.
I provide business development consulting services in the field of microbial examination and endotoxin testing, regulatory harmonization, biotech-based drugs, and in vitro diagnostics. I have also served as Executive Director of Japan Bio-Venture Development Association, Invited Associate Professor at Juntendo University School of Medicine, and Visiting Research Fellow at Tokyo University of Pharmacy and Life Sciences.
