© 2017 A new nitrogen-containing phenolic glycoside, moringaside A (1), and a new megastigmane glycoside, moringamegastigmane A (2), were isolated from the leaves of Moringa oleifera together with 16 known compounds. The chemical structures of the isolated compounds were elucidated on the basis of chemical and physicochemical evidence. To the best of our knowledge, there are few reports of compounds that effect acylated ghrelin secretion. Among the constituents of M. oleifera, niazirin (5) significantly stimulated the secretion of acylated ghrelin in vitro using rat primary gastric cells. This result suggests that 5 is a promising therapeutic agent for anorexia.
